Lapema Kennels is a long established, family run, licence breeding and show kennel situated in Worcestershire. We are also the only licence breeders in the whole of the Wychavon area. We all muck in at Lapema Kennels to make sure that our dogs get the best care possible. The only thing I can no longer do is to show our dogs in the ring due to my ill health, this is now my daughter Kerry's responsibility,'Kerry's husband Mike has now just recently started to help us out with the handling - as well as head chauffeur!' but make no mistake I am still Top Dog!! I can be most often found at the ring side to be sure that our dogs are at their best and behaving as they should. To be honest it is a great advantage to me to be able to see my own dogs in the ring at least now I can see everything from a spectators point of view.
We have a long standing connection to the world famous Sandylands Labrador kennel. This is due to us having bred Lapema's Leo of Sandylands & Lapema's Larry of Sandylands. Leo lived at Sandylands until he passed away and was the sire of numerous champions. Larry now lives in Italy with Franco Barberi and is the sire of Multi Champion Amber, possibly one of the biggest winning Labradors of all time. Her many wins include numerous all breed best in shows. She also gained her UK
title and won Best in Show at The Labrador Retriever Club Centenary Show out of an amazing entry of almost 600 Labradors. We have also produced top quality Boxers for many years that have been successful in the show ring worldwide. Over the years all of our Boxers have been bred from Dutch and German imports. In our opinion these bloodlines produce 'the proper Boxer',
correct construction, beautiful heads and most importantly outstanding temperament.
We have had Akitas for over 12 years. We no longer breed or show our Akitas, but all our old friends will continue to be cared for and live with us for the rest of their lives. Although most of them are now very old now they are still very much part of the
Lapema family.
We continue to breed quality Labradors and Boxers. We do not breed just for the show ring but also for companion homes. We believe that just because someone wants a companion they still deserve an outstanding specimen of that breed.
We are now proud to introduce our Alaskan Malamutes which have now joined the family. Our first Malamute was brought into the UK in 2003 which makes us relatively new to this breed but with a combination of over 25 years experience in the dog world, years of careful research into the breed and allot of patience we feel that we now have some very special malamutes. We believe they were well worth the wait,
what do you think? Take a look at Rafa pictured below.
